Dental Crowns and Bridges
A dental crown is a ceramic or porcelain, tooth-shaped cap that fits over your tooth, giving you a strong surface for biting and chewing. Crowns are used to repair a tooth when there is too much decay for a filling to be used. We take impressions of your teeth so the crown can be fabricated to fit properly with your other teeth once it’s in place. A crown can also restore chipped or broken teeth, giving you back your natural smile.
A bridge is a special type of dental crown used to fill the gap left by an extracted tooth. It literally bridges the gap left by an extracted tooth. The dental bridge is made of two crowns with a replacement tooth between them. The crowns fit over the teeth on either side of the missing tooth and the false tooth fills the gap, restoring your ability to bite and chew properly, as well as restoring your smile.
Root Canals

Your teeth are filled with a soft material called “pulp” which extends all the way down into the root of your tooth. This area is called the root canal. This procedure is called a “root canal.” We make a small hole in the tooth, remove the infected pulp, fill the tooth with a special bio-compatible material and then place a crown on the tooth. Prevention and Cleanings
Regular dental exams are an important part of keeping your teeth and gums healthy. Problems such as cavities or gum disease can arise which you may not be aware of until they become big problems. Regular checkups allow us to give your teeth, gums, and mouth a thorough, detailed examination to look for just such problems. Early detection means we can fix the problem while it’s small.
A professional cleaning will remove any buildup of plaque and tartar around and below your gum line which home brushing has not handled. Plaque is a sticky film left on your teeth by bacteria in your mouth. Tartar is a hard substance which forms from plaque that has not been removed, and it leads to gum disease.
Extractions (Simple and Wisdom Teeth)
Sometimes you need to have a problem tooth pulled. For your regular teeth, including the molars, this procedure only becomes necessary when the tooth has been damaged beyond repair. Wisdom teeth, that extra set of molars that grow in during your late teens or early twenties, often need to be removed because they are crowding your other teeth, or are pushing against other teeth, causing problems. In this case, you may need to have your wisdom teeth removed even though they are healthy.
Dental Implants
Dental implants provide you with a permanent solution to missing teeth. Unlike dental bridges, dental implants don’t require removing enamel from healthy teeth so a crown can be placed. The implant is a metal post which attaches directly to your jaw bone. The bone fuses around the implant, which then acts just like a tooth root. Your replacement tooth is attached to the post, providing you with a natural-looking tooth that functions just like your natural teeth. Implants work for one tooth or several. You can even replace routine dentures with implant-anchored dentures, restoring your ability to easily eat your favorite foods which can be difficult with routine dentures.

Gum Disease Care
Gum disease is an infection caused by bacteria which grow on your teeth. Poor oral hygiene practices allow the bacteria to grow and spread below your gum line, causing redness, soreness and even swelling of your gums. Regular brushing and flossing at home combined with semi-annual dental exams can help prevent gum disease.
We treat gum disease by removing the buildup of bacteria that is below the gum line. The procedure is called “deep cleaning” and is similar to when your hygienist cleans the hard deposits from your teeth during a normal cleaning, only deep cleaning is done below the gum line.
Some of the warning signs of gum disease are:
- Gums that are tender, red, and swollen
- Persistent bad breath
- Bleeding when you brush or floss
- Gums that are receding and pulling away from your teeth
- Teeth that are loose or separating

Dentures and Partials
Dentures are a full set of replacement teeth which are placed in an acrylic base. We take impressions of your mouth so the dentures can be custom-made to fit properly. While dentures will never feel exactly like your natural teeth, they restore your ability to eat solid foods and give you back your smile. The base of the upper denture covers the roof of your mouth, while the lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe to make room for your tongue.
A partial denture is used when you don’t need to replace all your upper or lower teeth. The partial denture is like a removable dental bridge, providing you with teeth for chewing and giving you back your natural smile.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
We use tooth-colored composite fillings to repair the damage to your teeth caused by cavities. A composite tooth-colored filling is a mixture of glass or quartz with “resin,” a special plastic. This material can be colored to match the color of your teeth. Unlike the metal fillings of the past, tooth-colored fillings are difficult to detect, making them virtually identical to the look of your natural teeth. Composite fillings also require less tooth material to be removed compared to the older metal fillings and they help restore the original strength of your tooth.
